I appreciated your insightful review of "Creation and Evolution." When I completed this book, I felt that the Pope had not been well served by those who were to present the Christian response to evolutionary science, which finds no place for God in the natural world. Professor Schuster's presentation seemed to emasculate the responders. Most disturbing to me, a simple layman, was that the historical Christ, His Curch, and His true presence in the Eucharist, was glossed over. The papers presented gave the impression that belief in a personal God who actually interacts with His creation is indefensible. The lack of a concluding chapter left me bewildered as to the purpose of the book, and the wisdom of Ignatius Press in accepting it for publication in its present form.

David,

Thanks very much for so clearly summarizing _Creation and Evolution_, which I found an engrossing read, and which I share your understanding of. I also agree re: your Heneghan "review" [although I think you charitably give Heneghan the benefit of a doubt he hasn't earned].

Anyway, thanks. I enjoy your blog!

Best regards,
Clare
