Crisis Pregnancy Centers accused of being deceptive, radical anti-choice
Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney has introduced a “Stop Deceptive Advertising for Women’s Services Act” which is targeting Planned Parenthood’s nemisis, the Crisis Pregnancy Centers.
“New York City has seen firsthand how crisis pregnancy centers deliberately confuse women by establishing themselves near legitimate reproductive health care centers. These fake clinics have opened in close proximity to our Brooklyn and Bronx centers, misleading clients seeking the unbiased care that Planned Parenthood provides. Planned Parenthood knows that women are completely capable of making the best decision for themselves and their families - without coercion, intimidation or lies. We provide our patients with a full range of medically accurate information about our services, as well as comprehensive unbiased counseling on all pregnancy options, including carrying a pregnancy to term, adoption, and abortion. As health care providers you need to be honest with your patients. Fake clinics are not honest. They are not health care providers and they need to stop pretending to be,” said Joan Malin, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood of New York City.
Sounds to me like they view the women seeking out abortions as being easily duped and manipulated. Why is there such a big fear of women going into these clinics (to get another perspective) other than they may change their mind about getting an abortion? Of course, Planned Parenthood would have nothing to gain if an abortion just so happens to be the right choice, right? What’s in it for the CPCs?

Well, PP says that their services include, and in this order,”..carrying a pregnancy to term, adoption, and abortion.” I’d like to see some statistics on the frequency of each outcome, as it will betray the priority PP gives them when discussing the options.

St. Jimbob:
I recently saw some statistics on LifeSite that were taken off PP’s own website - 2005 or 2006 numbers, I believe. Sorry I don’t have the link. This is what stuck in my head:
Though PP folks like saying that “5% of the services they offer have to do with abortion” (think of the long list of basic health care services that most medical clinics provide, and then put abortion on that list), a full 85% of PP’s clinic income comes from performing abortions.
That’s the reality on the ground that’s obscured by their “providing health care” rhetoric.
