Mother Theresa - to bring Christ the souls for which he thirsts
I found a link to this video at kris’s blog where Mother Theresa gives advice on doing small things with great love.
I love the simplicity and holiness of this woman. This one on forgiveness from the heart.
Here is an old article from First Things on the Dark Night of Mother Theresa.

I have some problems with Mother Teresa’s work. Have the criticisms made by Christopher Hitchens ever been answered? Why are conditions where the order works still at third world standards when the order receives millions of dollars a year in donations? Are the people for whom the order cares receiving adequate pain relief? Where do the donations go? Is the order independently audited? Are the poor being helped to help the poor or to gain merit for the sisters? I emailed Mother Teresa’s replacement with some of my questions and received a polite reply which didn’t really answer my questions.

Sharon, what specific problems do you have with Mother Theresa? (as you’ve only provided questions)
in the mean time - the answers
Have the criticisms made by Christopher Hitchens ever been answered? I will answer them here, since Mother Theresa was unavailable due to her death at the time they were made.
Why are conditions where the order works still at third world standards when the order receives millions of dollars a year in donations? too many starving, sick, and dying people needing food and medical supplies, not enough money.
Are the people for whom the order cares receiving adequate pain relief? If available. Too many starving, sick, and dying people needing food and medical supplies, not enough money.
Where do the donations go? food, water, shelter and medical supplies. Unfortunately, there is no shortage of people in dire need in Calcutta.
Is the order independently audited? As frequently as needed.
Are the poor being helped to help the poor or to gain merit for the sisters? To help the poor. The merit part goes into theological terms.
Hope this helps. If you have any facts to dispute my answers, I am open to being corrected. Also, may I recommend doing a little research on poverty in third world countries and more specifically, the profound poverty in Calcutta - it may help put things in perspective which may shed a little light on Hitchen’s questions.
