I need to be careful on this one, because God and Mr. Haggard are the only ones who know for sure. That being said, given the time and what I have seen and heard of his attitude towards sex, it would have to be a miraculous healing.
I believe there is the possibility in the healing of ssa, but I also believe that it’s a struggle which doesn’t happen over night. There are also many who couragously carry their burden as a “thorn in the flesh”, but never act on their desires, which is a sign of grace.
Overall, I believe the healing of ssa is more of a conversion of the heart than an aseptic scrubbing of the mind.

I agree with you in a sense. I think that this issue is simply a very stark manifestation of a larger problem though. The larger problem is a general ignorance of the faith and a relativist morality which arises from legal positivism. As with many of the other problems we have among Catholics today, I would suggest that the “new evangelization” is required to transform Catholics such that they are able to understand and accept the authentic truth about the human person and the truth about what leads to authentic personal fulfillment and what leads to supernatural death.
