Catholic, again
Sylvester Stallone, who grew up Catholic, fell away after making it in the entertainment industry, but now considers himself a churchgoing Catholic again. His reconversion started when his daughter Sophia was “born sick,”. ‘The weight of celebrity was “very heavy,” he added. “I didn’t have any strong foundation behind me of people that would keep my feet on the ground. I was extremely seduced by the newfound freedom.”‘ Consequently, Stallone is currently married to this third wife.

Reading about “Rambo 4″ is where I really lost it!
I would guess that he had to shelve his faith in order to make it in the entertainment industry. While it is good to see that he seems to be coming around to the Church, the article makes no mention of the sticky problem of having multiple wives.

If I remember correctly, Stallone actually got started in pornography, years before the Rocky series, which is proof alone that God never gives up on any of us. The multiple wife syndrome of many Catholic reverts is epidemic, which some of the clergy is responsible. I have actually heard some priests say that they do not agree with the Catholic teachings on divorce. Thanks for your comments, and hat tip to your very interesting and unique blog.

Whatever. After three wives, he’s getting things figured out? That’s convenient.
He also thinks it’s completely fine for illegal Mexicans to cross our borders and work and live here ILLEGALLY, and while in Mexico City a few days ago promoting his movie, critiiczed Americans for wanting to protect our borders. This is an indication of a man with a very small mind and a grossly uninformed point of view. Apparently, he’ll say anything to promote his movie–include sell out the American worker while in a foreign country. Why in the world would he go to Mexico and publicly support their (false) “right” to enter our contry illegally, and NOT defend the American worker? To sell a movie. Because speaking out on behalf of Americans isn’t cool. What is cool and hip right now is to hate America and to be embarassed at being American.

And “shelray”, divorce is not a “Catholic teaching”. It’s a “Gospel teaching” given by Christ himself. The Catholic Church is the keeper and defender of Christ’s teachings. The command to not divorcie is a Biblical IMPERATIVE, not a man-made decision by the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church is the only Christian body that actually teaches this Biblical imperative on divorce. The protestants sure don’t.
I wonder if Stallone got both his previous marriages annulled and then got the current one properly sacramentalized. If not, then he’s just blowing hot air. Well, that would be quite a challenge, wouldn’t it? I did read where he said his current wife “is the love of my life”. I’m sure his first and second wives are sooooooooooo thrilled to know that–especially the first wife who is the mother of his autistic son. His daughter wasn’t his first child “born sick”.
