Even a screed defending him is forced to admit this

It's screed because? The link you provide summarizes the content of St. Maximillian's corpus of writing and shows that his accepting a false document as true is a far cry from anti-semitism. I suspect it is screed because you have no argument against its facts.

Your citation from the a jaundiced Times article does nothing to further your case. It simply restates the unjustified opposition of a few to internal Catholic matters. You seem so very willing to uncritically accept slurs that you easily fall into the same trap that St. Maximillian fell into, though I would add his was a much more innocent acceptance of what appeared to be authentic at the time than your biased view.

Patrick the problem you exhibit is an irrational animus against an institution because it tells you, in all charity I might add, something you do not want to hear. Your response could be to ignore it or to respond to the issue. Rather, you choose to attack people's characters in an attempt to undermine their credibility. This is the response of someone who deep down recognizes they have no solid foundation upon which to do so. You join the ranks of those who in futility have tried to change or destroy the Christ's Church over the last 2000 years. Let me give you a hint; it is not coming down through human effort, especially not based upon lies. If you really are convinced that it is wrong, history would advise your better bet would be prayer...though I would preface any prayer with a petition to be open to the truth.

From Times London:

The Pope prayed in the cell where a Polish Franciscan, Maximillian Kolbe, was starved and incarcerated before being murdered by the Nazis. Kolbe was canonised by Pope John Paul II. Yet Kolbe’s writings evince a firm belief in the veracity of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion and the existence of a Masonic-Jewish conspiracy. John Paul’s canonisation of Edith Stein, a Jewish convert to Catholicism who became a nun and died at Auschwitz, caused still more trouble. The Church’s celebration of martyrs against Nazi barbarism is unerringly partial. It decries the blasphemous claims of authority, while sparing few words for the integrity of Jewish history.

Kolbe did endorse the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion and the existence of a Masonic-Jewish conspiracy".

Even a screed defending him is forced to admit this:

Father Kolbe did, however, accept uncritically the picture of a Zionist-Jewish-Masonic conspiracy presented in the Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion, a work widely circulated in the Poland of his day. Thus, several of his mentions of Jews speak approvingly of the Protocols, and, as in the quote cited by Mr. Gross, one can find such phrases as "Jewish-Masonic conspiracy," "cruel clique of Jews," and "their work (the Talmud) which breathes hatred against Christ and the Christians."

Our way of life, our morals and our tradition — our morals are cleaner in all ways. The West has something to learn from us and should not race along in this mad licentiousness. We may have a democratic country, but we live in an organized country and an organized city. These gays wanted to lay flowers at the grave of the unknown warrior. This is a provocation. These gays go there, and openly go up to the monument. It is a contamination. People burst through and of course they beat them up.

It is telling that among the few things that Islamists and Orthodox Christians and Jews agree upon is their hatred of homosexuals.

Patrick, this is the logical fallacy of hasty generalization or a caricature of the actual position of most Christians. This is similar to prescinding from Jeffery Dalmer and saying that all people engaging in SSA are homicidal cannibals. Both are untrue and inaccurate.

As for the rest of your calumny, it has been deleted until you can provide sources to substantiate such ridiculous claims.

The "homosexual activists" some may sneer at know a great deal more about courage and holding onto the traditional values of liberty and justice than most Americans. Its easy to condemn and be brave from a distance, but have you ever put your own personal safety on the line in pursuit of an ideal?

And do note that the violence did not come from the "homosexual activists", but from religious and ultra-nationalist groups. It is telling that among the few things that Islamists and Orthodox Christians and Jews agree upon is their hatred of homosexuals. Last year in Jerusalem during a gay and lesbian march, 3 people were stabbed by an orthodox Jew. [Administrator: calumny deleted]
