Kind of like a Catholic Riddle

Filed under: Liturgy & Sacraments — shelray @ 2:35 pm

question markWhat if a  Catholic Church has re-opened after 10 years and you were assigned to find a place to put the Tabernacle. Now pretend you live in bizarro world, and instead of displaying it where you think it should be, your objective is to place it where you would think it would be seen by as few Catholics as possible. Where would you put it?

  1. I’d say put it in a gay bar. ;)

  2. hahahaha! I can tell that you are just too funny and probably keep your friend entertained for hours with your wit, but you are wrong, but thanks for playing.

  3. Whoa… I’m actually quite serious. And what do you mean that I “…probably keep your friend entertained for hours with your wit…” (not… very… witty… there…)?

It’s sinful to act upon homosexual desires, right? So going into a gay bar would be acting on a homosexual desire, and therefore doesn’t seem a likely place to find a real Catholic.

… your response seems to indicate you are a bit touchy about this subject, perhaps because you are used to having people say retarded things in response to what has been referred to as “Gabortion” by some. I suppose that’s understandable, but I was actually quite serious (see explanation above).

Other locations you won’t find Catholics:
    1) The bottom of the sea (can’t very well be Catholics there).
    2) Outerspace, beyond Earth orbit.

  4. Anonymous,

I am not sure what you mean by real Catholic. Why can’t a person be a real (and good) Catholic and struggle with same sex attraction at the same time? Catholics realize they are susceptible to sin, just like anyone else, but with humility, they reconcile with God and persevere to overcome the thorns of the flesh.

If you are not Catholic, you may not understand or believe that the Eucharist is Christ. So to bring Christ into a scandalous lair would be a grave act of sacrilege and a very touchy subject.

Did I really leave the “s” off of friend? ……oops,

I admit it! the gig is up, I’m not proud to type this but, I DID IT ON  PURPOSE and it felt pretty refreshing (at the time), but  I’m not a very good liar on the keyboards or much a comic, so I take it back, I AM SORRY for the missing “s”, or should I actually be giving it back?……. Thanks again for playing our game.

  5. Can I comment on the actual premise of the link posted?

It’s interesting, looking at the second picture, to see a perfectly good Crucifix and tabernacle in the distant background. The arrangement virtually screams for a Tridentine Latin Mass, which must be why they moved the altar and put in the wierd bird-thingy behind it. Don’t want people to worship in a traditional way, now, do we?

  6. I think the issue of tradition and authority is hard to swallow by many in today’s culture. The terms Liberal and progressive provides hope to those who have a desire to have an active role in establishing their own church which is modern and “applicable” to our desires (the God part seems to be left out). In other words, Tradition=bad and progressive=good. To attend a latin mass, may have such a negative connection to a “self-rightous, holier-than-thou conservative”, many “progressive” minded Catholics don’t have the stomach for it. that’s just how I see it.
